Note: this concerns the RealWear HMT-1Z1. It is similar in hardware specifications to the RealWear HMT-1, but has ATEX Zone 1 and CSA C1/D1 certification. This makes it possible to use the glasses in explosion-hazardous environments.

The RealWear HMT-1 is an assisted reality headset. This means that the glasses contribute to the real reality. For example, use the RealWear HMT-1 to let an expert watch and give directions from a laptop or mobile phone.

The RealWear HMT-1 can be used completely hands-free. 4 digital microphones (with built-in noise reduction) allow the user to talk aloud to the glasses. The RealWear HMT-1 is with mainly used in industrial environments where sturdy glasses are necessary. The applications for the RealWear HMT-1 are (among others) inspections, repairs and maintenance work.

The RealWear HMT-1 has a built-in camera with which images can be recorded. This allows work to be performed more effectively - even when someone is watching.

The RealWear HMT-1 has an IP66 certification. This makes the glasses waterproof and dustproof. The glasses have also been tested against falls from a height of up to 2 meters. In addition, another variant of the RealWear HMT-1 is also available; the RealWear HMT-1Z1. These glasses have a ATEX Certification. This means that the HMT-1Z1 can be used completely safely in an explosive environment (for example, when there is a risk of explosive gas mixtures).
