Run, jump, walk and shoot with the Omni One

Virtuix is now an established name in the VR landscape. The American company, with originally a Belgian founder, developed the Virtuix Omni a few years ago - one of the first commercially usable 360-degree treadmills. The Virtuix Omni proved to be a huge success at entertainment centers and Virtual Reality arcades around the world. Because the user is completely strapped into the harness, there is little to no chance of the player hurting themselves. You can run as fast as you want on the Virtuix Omni, the smooth octagonal surface ensures that you stay firmly on the device as you shoot forward in the virtual world.

Value Virtuix Omni with mainly focused on the commercial market (VR arcades), they will soon release a new product that seems to focus more on Consumers and home use. The Omni One, as the product will be called, is also a 360-degree treadmill for VR, with, the main difference being that the player is no longer stuck in a ring around itself, but attaches itself in a cardigan. This vest ensures that the player can move safely in all directions without the risk of falling off the device or running. In addition, the vest is attached to only 1 arm which can also move up and down. This makes it possible to jump and crawl on the virtual treadmill when the game calls for it.

The Omni One contains almost the same basis as the Virtuix Omni treadmill. An octagonal tub that falls inwards. The player puts on special shoes when he or she stands on the Omni One. These shoes glide smoothly over the cockpit, giving you the feeling that you are running in a natural way. On the shoes is a tracker for the left and right foot that keep track of the speed of running and translate it to the virtual world.

The first product photos of the Omni One show the product as if it were a chic device that wouldn't look out of place in a man cave. The device is almost completely blackened and has a footprint of only 1.2 meters in diameter. In addition, the Omni One can be used with Standalone All-In-One VR headsets, such as Meta Quest 2 and pico 4. This ensures that it is no longer necessary to connect a powerful PC with to the Omni One, something that was necessary with the original Virtuix Omni treadmill. In addition, it makes a huge difference not having to connect the Headset to the PC via a cable with, because you can get confused while running.

At the launch of the product, Virtuix promises to have 30+ games available for the Omni One. It is not yet clear whether these are games that have already been released or whether they are newly developed games especially for the Omni One treadmill.

The Omni One will first be released in America. It is expected to hit the market in 2023. It is not yet known if and when the Omni One will also come to Europe. At the moment, therefore, only the Virtuix Omni and KAT VR treadmills are still available in Europe.
