A new face at Unbound VR
Diederik introduces himself
From December 2018, Diederik Hermsen works as a commercial advisor at Unbound VR. He is among others the point of contact for Consumers and companies, provides advice on purchasing and maintaining VR hardware and ensures proper handling of orders. In the text below, Diederik introduces himself.
"Hello everyone! My name is Diederik Hermsen and I have been working full-time at Unbound VR since December. In my work I am involved in with managing orders, solving and thinking along in problems, buying the latest VR products, ensure that the latest products can reach customers again and advise on the purchase of VR products. Furthermore, I will be busy with creating content, where you can already see the first product in the form of this newsletter!"
Just a little about myself; I am 24 years old, living in Nijmegen and recently graduated from the HBO education in sport, health and management. The combination between sport and health cannot be made immediately with Virtual Reality, but I do believe that this does have similarities and offers great opportunities for collaboration. Think, for example, of the implementation of E-Sports within Virtual Reality and the possibilities that come with it. I think sports can be a great addition to the game world and can boost health in a fun way!
As you might notice, I have a sporty disposition and sport can perhaps be called my passion. Yet I also have a fascination for technology, with especially the speed at which it develops. Where the first prototype VR headset was put together in a shed in 2011 (the first Oculus Rift), I am surprised that so many new developments and techniques have emerged in a few years. So I'm also very curious what position Virtual Reality will be in a few years and I hope to be a part of that with Unbound VR."
VR Arena: Next Level E-Sports
Great! Virtuix is bringing a new attraction to the VR market from January: the Omniverse VR ARENA!
A location-based entertainment system that allows four players to play with Omni platforms simultaneously, powered by Omniverse content. A revolutionary development in gaming! Think of the possibilities that the VR ARENA offers for E-Sports; four players simultaneously against - or with - each other in the VR ARENA, battling for the win! How cool is that?!
The VR ARENA was created to take E-Sports to the next level. By hosting competitions in which serious cash prizes can be won, the VR ARENA adds great value to competitive VR arcades. Great opportunities that the VR ARENA offers for arcades:
- VR E-Sports is getting more famous and players are coming back to the arcade to play/train. The competition increases the team feeling, so that players come back faster and start up their own community;
- The VR ARENA is fully automated, requiring minimal outside actions. The players step into the VR ARENA, get ready and can start right away. The VR ARENA also takes care of the queue itself, so that waiting times are kept to a minimum;
- During 'waiting times', logos, promos, social media and / or other videos of your company can be displayed. This increases the brand awareness of the arcade and ensures that people remember their experience at your VR arcade;
- The VR ARENA runs on Omniverse content, which currently supports 18 different games from different genres. Nieuwe games worden in razend tempo ontwikkeld, dus het game-aanbod zal zich alleen maar uitbreiden (momenteel 7 games in ontwikkeling… more coming soon);
- with the new Omni 2.0 motion technology makes your experience on the Omni Virtuix even better. Walking and running has never felt so realistic in the virtual world!

New and Expected headsets
VR is developing at breakneck speed
That is good news for the users, because the hardware and software is getting better and better! For example, there will be a few interesting developments in the field of VR headsets in the near future.
1. Oculus Quest
Perhaps the most exciting new Headset coming soon is the Oculus Quest. In addition to the Oculus Rift (which must be connected to PC) and the Oculus GO (no PC required, but not too strong either) comes Oculus with the Quest powerful enough to compare with the Rift, but in terms of price more to the GO. The release is scheduled for early 2019, so the Oculus Quest won't be long in coming...
2. Pimax 5K Plus, 8K and 8K Plus
with the Pimax 2.5K and 4K has Pimax already laid a nice foundation for VR headsets. But soon they will also release the Pimax 5K Plus, 8K and 8K Plus! The Pimax 8K promises to be the first VR headset with with a resolution of 1840x2160 per eye, which will greatly reduce the screen-door effect. In addition, the new models have an ultra-wide field of view of 200 °!
3. Samsung Odyssey Plus
The improved version of the Samsung Odyssey has a new design, which makes it look a little tighter and more comfortable on the head. For example, extra padding has been added, the nose area has been widened and there is extra space to wear comfortably over glasses. In addition, Samsung has added a so-called anti-SDE Amoled screen to the Odyssey Plus, which ensures that the screen-through effect is a lot less.
Most Played VR Games in Arcades
Top 10 most played Arcade games
There is a difference in the type of game you play at home - alone - and the type of game you play in a VR arcade. When you're with busy with a VR headset at home, it can be fun to play a horror game or a good story with game, for example. But with a VR arcade you want to play an arcade-type game, because you want to have a fun and energetic experience in a short time. Our Los Angeles VR colleagues - SpringboardVR - have compiled a list of with games most played in over 185 VR arcades worldwide in November 2018 - based on total minutes played. Misschien zit er wat leuks tussen om eens in de VR-arcade te spelen… of natuurlijk om lekker thuis te gamen!
