Best AR Glasses for On the Go
Tested in our own XR space

The XREAL Air 2 Pro is a surprisingly powerful and refined AR glasses that targets an entirely new category of users: people who want to enjoy a large virtual screen on the go or at the office, without a bulky headset. We've thoroughly tested it in combination with my smartphone, laptop and even my Steam Deck - and I must say: this is not a gimmick, it's seriously useful.

The glasses use micro-OLED displays. The image is sharp, contrast-rich, and colourful - comparable to an OLED monitor. Thanks to the dimmable electrochromatic lenses (unique to the Pro version), you can also see the image well in bright environments. This is a pleasure to watch for Netflix, gaming or productivity on the go.

The Air 2 Pro is primarily intended as a portable screen, not as a spatial AR device with 6DoF tracking. That being said, the positioning of the image works surprisingly well thanks to the built-in gyroscope. Combined with the XREAL Beam or Nebula app, you can hang virtual screens stable in space in front of you - ideal for multitasking.

This is one of the lightest glasses I've ever tested. The legs are flexible and the nose bridge is included in multiple sizes. It was comfortable even during longer work sessions at the office, and the open design doesn't make you feel cut off from your surroundings.

The only issue I've encountered, and this applies to all XREAL Glasses, is that the software was not immediately available on the Google Appstore in the Netherlands. This could change in the future. However, I was able to get the software from the XREAL Reddit environment where they officially provide support to XREAL customers. The software you find there is available for all countries.
