Unitree R1 EDU U2 Humanoid Robot
Note: The Unitree R1 EDU U2 is a development platform for research, education, and robotics. Its functionality depends on the software used and self-developed applications; it is not a fully autonomous, ready-to-use service robot.
The Unitree R1 EDU U2 is a compact humanoid robot developed for research in robotics, artificial intelligence, and embodied AI. This EDU Smart version has 26 degrees of freedom (DOF), including two movable axes in the head, enabling the robot to perform natural body movements and actively focus its sensors on the environment. With a height of approximately 123 cm and a weight of around 29 kg, the R1 is considerably more compact than many other humanoid research robots.
The EDU U2 stands out for its extensive development possibilities and additional AI computing power. In addition to the integrated 8-core processor, this version has a high-performance computing module with a maximum of 100 TOPS of AI computing power. This allows developers to perform computer vision, machine learning, motion planning, and autonomous robotics directly on the robot. The open interfaces for joints and sensors enable secondary development and provide support for simulation and development environments such as NVIDIA Isaac Sim.
For perception, the R1 EDU U2 is equipped with a stereo camera, an array of four microphones, and an integrated speaker. This allows visual, auditory, and interactive applications to be developed. Connection to external systems is possible via WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. The robot is powered by a quickly replaceable lithium battery with a usage duration of about one hour, allowing batteries to be easily swapped during research or demonstration sessions.
Thanks to the combination of programmable motion control, powerful onboard AI processing, and a relatively compact humanoid design, the Unitree R1 EDU U2 is particularly suitable for universities, research institutions, AI developers, and educational environments that want to practically experiment with humanoid robotics, reinforcement learning, embodied intelligence, and human-robot interaction.
