Frequently asked questions about Microsoft Azure Kinect and Kinect DK

  • Where is Azure Kinect for sale?

For our business customers, the Microsoft Azure Kinect can be ordered at Unbound VR.

  • How is Azure Kinect DK different from Kinect for Windows?

Azure Kinect DK includes the best AI sensors: 1 MP time-of-flight depth camera, matrix with seven microphones, 12 MP RGB camera and IMU. Combine these with Azure services for complete solutions that can be optimized to meet your needs.

  • What does Azure DK mean?

DK means developer kit. Azure Kinect DK is for developers and commercial businesses, not so much for Consumers. The kit should be used at an ambient temperature of 10-25 degrees Celsius. The Azure Kinect DK does not replace Xbox Kinect.

  • Does Azure Kinect DK only work with Azure?

Azure Kinect DK is designed to make it easy for developers to work with Azure, but you can also use the solution with any cloud provider or without a cloud provider.

  • Can the Azure Kinect with Xbox be used?

Azure Kinect DK is not designed to use with Xbox.

  • What are the Azure Kinect system requirements?

Azure Kinect DK does not have compute power. You can attach Azure Kinect DK to any PC, from a screenless workstation to a desktop. System requirements are Windows® 10 PC or Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with 7th Gen Intel® Core™ i3 processor (Dual Core 2.4 GHz with HD620 GPU or faster), USB 3.0 port and 4GB RAM. Azure Kinect DK is not available on Windows 10 in S mode. Body tracking and other experiences may require more advanced PC hardware.
