HP Partner in the Spotlight: Unbound VR

The Partner in the Spotlight section is intended to introduce you to with fellow HP partners. In this episode we talk with Remco de Jong, Managing Director of HP Business Partner Unbound VR.

Unbound VR manifests itself in the market as the ultimate one-stop-shop in the field of VR/AR/MR, in other words, XR immersive technologies. The company offers an extensive and up-to-date range of hardware, peripherals, accessories and associated services. Our own technical team provides advice on location, takes care of complete installations and maintenance and resolves faults. The Focus on VR was a conscious choice at the time, according to Remco de Jong. “The Dutch IT hardware supplier landscape is very densely populated. If you are going to do the same thing, whatever the rest does, you will soon have little to add. That is why we have chosen this niche. When we started, in 2017, few believed in VR. From my background in software development, I became interested in VR because just like in software development VR offers unlimited possibilities for the user. with we also started working with that mindset with VR."

From my background in software development, I have always been convinced that anything is possible

More than hardware

Unbound VR is originally a hardware supplier, but now also has a strong Focus on advice. “VR cannot be taken for granted like a mobile phone. Many companies are still busy investigating to what extent they can do something with it. They could use some help to determine how VR fits into their IT landscape: how are we going to deploy it, how are we going to manage it and how are we going to train people in its use? In the past two years, with, especially in the entertainment sector, many companies have emerged that use VR, for example for virtual escape rooms. That is not only a matter of putting on VR glasses, such a room must also be set up. We can also completely relieve the customer of that. "

VR as a cost-effective alternative

What Remco really likes about the VR industry is that he automatically has to deal with with customers who are innovative. "A company like KLM, for example, is now looking at VR as an alternative to the very expensive simulators in which pilots have to keep up with their skills. If you can also create the same cockpit experience on the couch at home, that means a huge cost saving. The great thing about such a VR solution is that you can make the experiences of the users measurable. That gives training an extra added value. It could well be that KLM will start rolling this out to all pilots from mid-2021 onwards. "

As far as I'm concerned, the HP Reverb G2 is the VR product for 2021

Excited about the HP Reverb G2

The relationship between Unbound VR and HP dates back to 2018. “At the time, we were increasingly in demand for a wireless mobile VR experience. At the time, HP offered a PC backpack with which you could create such an experience. with our strict specialism, we were initially a stranger to HP. Still, they saw us as an attractive partner, especially for the HP Reverb G2 Headset that was recently introduced to the market. Based on the reviews and our experience, the Reverb G2 is currently by far the best in this price segment. Because it is connected with to the Computer, you are assured of a higher image quality than with a stand-alone Headset. In fact, HP with this one product is disrupting the entire market. Resolution, ease of use, wearing comfort, audio, video and above all the price: everything is top-notch. The forums are very enthusiastic and that is also thanks to the smart market positioning that HP has chosen. In addition, the desktop product of one of the competitors will soon be phased out, so that entire target group will be added. As far as I'm concerned, the HP Reverb G2 is the VR product for 2021.

Productive collaboration

Remco is very pleased with the with HP collaboration. "HP appreciates our specific knowledge and Focus. HP customers who have a question about VR or are looking for a concrete solution are referred to us. For us, the with HP partnership also means that we are very close to the Information and are actively kept informed. This is particularly valuable during a product introduction, because it means that we, in turn, can keep our customers well informed. We also find each other excellent in other areas. For example, we are now working together on the Onero-X project. That's a mobile VR solution; a portable flight case with four VR headsets and an HP brain. This solution will soon be used for training courses by the fire brigade, police and security services in Europe and beyond. An extremely important product. The challenge is that together we have to build something that is robust and compact enough for the flighcase. with together with the development team and product specialists at HP, we look at which products are suitable for this. The people at HP think along well and go very far in this regard. Exactly what we need to develop such a new and high-quality product. "
