How does the NextMind Dev Kit work?
The NextMind Dev Kit is currently only available for developers who want to experiment with mind control. The device is a small sensor that you attach to the back of the head. This can be done using a separate headband, but the sensor can also be easily attached to a virtual reality headset, such as the Oculus Quest 2 or HTC Vive Pro.
The device uses artificial intelligence to translate signals from the brain and send them to the computer. For example, you can look at an image, such as a menu or a game you are playing, and the device will "click" it for you using your brain. The image you are looking at is projected onto your visual cortex (at the back of the brain). This part of the brain is in contact with the NextMind and can follow this movement through certain waves. Focus long enough on the item you want to click on, and the sensor ensures that it actually happens.
According to the company, you can program everything, from simple applications, which take only a few minutes to build, to advanced interfaces and tools. The kit includes the sensor, an adjustable headband, the software development kit (SDK), and additional resources such as tutorials, documentation, and sample projects. The NextMind development kit is compatible with a wide range of digital platforms, including macOS, Windows 10, Oculus, HTC Vive, and HoloLens.
Who can use the NextMind Dev Kit?
The device can be purchased by anyone, but it is intended for developers who want to implement the product with their software. As there are currently no ready-made games or applications available, the NextMind Dev Kit is not suitable for consumers or beginners. Experience with virtual reality is therefore required.
