The Scariest VR Horror Games

Through the Eyes of the Protagonist
Horror games have long been one of the most popular game genres in VR. This is because a player experiences the game much more intensely than when sitting behind a PC or PlayStation, for example. With a VR headset, you literally look through the eyes of the protagonist in the game, making it feel as if you are part of the (horror) story.
Most VR horror games are relatively short, with an average playtime of 2 to 3 hours, but they guarantee plenty of scares and jump moments. In this list, we will highlight our 5 favourite VR horror games for you.

The Exorcist: Legion VR (Oculus, Steam & PSVR)
We all know the classic film 'The Exorcist'. There's something about this theme that creates a creepy atmosphere. The Exorcist: Legion is a VR game consisting of 5 episodes. In the game, you take on the role of a detective. Armed with a cross and holy water, it is your task to investigate a series of mysterious murders.
Although the gameplay is quite simple, The Exorcist: Legion still manages to create a very tense atmosphere with several intense scare moments. Combined with the excellent sound design (tip: play this game with headphones!), The Exorcist: Legion is a fantastic experience for VR horror enthusiasts.

Narcosis (Oculus & Steam)
Narcosis is not your standard type of horror game. In Narcosis, you play a diver who goes on an underwater exploration. Unlike other horror games, Narcosis has virtually no jump scares. But what makes the game so creepy is the fact that you are completely isolated and alone in the dark underwater.
Although the game is quite short, the story is solid and the gameplay is surprisingly good. Narcosis is therefore a great VR game for anyone looking for an exciting VR experience.
