Facebook temporarily stops selling Oculus Quest 2 due to ‘skin irritation’

Some users report that the standard facial interface of the Quest 2-headset causes an unpleasant allergic reaction (which is different to the druk-plekken that you can experience with a headset).

Hygienic solutions

Due to these reports, Oculus has decided to halt all sales of the Quest 2-headsets on-hold. This means that for a few weeks, no Oculus Quest 2-headset will be available for purchase. The current expectation is that Oculus will release a new version of the Quest 2 (128GB) in late August 2021, which will feature a new type of facial interface. From then, we expect the Oculus Quest 2 to be widely available again.

This announcement also highlights the importance of hygienic solutions for VR-headsets. Fortunately, there are now many products on the market that can make using the headset more comfortable. For example, use a silicone mask, a new PU-gezichtsinterface, or our Universal VR masks to improve the comfort and hygiene of your VR-ervaring.

Fortunately, there are also many other products that help prevent skin irritation, sweating, and ensure the safe use of your VR-headset. We always recommend using our Universal VR masks when sharing the headset with multiple people, and our Disinfecting VR Headset Spray is also recommended for clean and hygienic use of the headset and controllers.
