Managing Virtual Reality glasses just got easier with ArborXR

The unstoppable rise of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) in business is an exciting development. However, many managers discover a problem over time: enthusiasm for these types of systems and devices fades because they do not meet expectations. Adjustments cost a lot of time and money. The hoped-for efficiency evaporates and frustration grows in its place. ArborXR and Unbound XR have the solution

VR/AR systems

When using VR/AR systems (summarised as XR - Extended Reality), organisations invest in this wonderful technology and then notice that its implementation and use are not that simple. Ideally, employees would put on a VR headset and get started without any problems. The reality is different: often users have to wait for an update or scroll endlessly through the app library to find the application they need for their work. Literally: that does not work

ArborXR serves more than 800 companies; the company's expertise speaks for itself. We are proud to be able to offer a leading solution together for companies that want to scale VR & AR implementations

ArborXR's unique method

ArborXR has developed a unique method to link multiple devices from a single location. This helps organisations simplify the implementation and use of VR and AR glasses. As an official partner of ArborXR, Unbound XR is the ideal party to help companies work smoothly and efficiently with the technology of the future

How ArborXR works

ArborXR is a mobile device management system (MDM). It links XR devices (for example, VR, AR, and MR glasses) from a specific computer via an online platform. Updates are then implemented from this platform to all linked devices

But of course, ArborXR has more advantages. The system also offers a customisable kiosk mode launcher. This launcher is the start screen when a user puts on the glasses. For example, with the Oculus Home, this start screen is the starting point for settings, apps, developer mode, and the on/off button. But users who are not yet familiar with XR technology want to quickly get started with the right apps. ArborXR's kiosk launcher helps employees find the right apps on the start screen at their own discretion. This prevents them from clicking on the wrong apps and waiting a long time for the glasses to start up

Customise to your own taste

Moreover, the design of the start screen can easily be customised to your own taste. For example, if you want to add a homemade 360-degree photo to the start screen to create a professional virtual environment, you can get started within a few minutes

The advantages of ArborXR

Above, we have already given some examples of what the ArborXR device management platform can exactly do. But there are so many more handy functionalities hidden in the programme! In broad terms, ArborXR is characterised by three pillars:

1. Managing XR devices

  • Manually managing all devices within an organisation is almost impossible. With ArborXR, you can set up all different AR and VR devices online, configure the settings from a distance, keep the software up-to-date and see how many devices are in circulation.
  • ArborXR software is designed for convenience and simplicity. So there is no difficult installation involved where you spend hours per headset to link it to the system. It's just a matter of connecting the VR glasses you want to add to ArborXR to the PC or laptop with a cable and you're done!
  • ArborXR works with all common VR, AR and MR headsets. These include the glasses from Oculus / Meta, Pico, HTC VIVE, Vuzix, RealWear, DPVR and more. Check here for the complete list of XR glasses compatible with ArborXR.
  • Remotely manage settings such as WiFi configurations and permissions, and install content directly on the glasses you want to have this installed on. This can be done on individual VR glasses or directly on groups of VR glasses at the same time.
  • Install and always check the latest software of the VR glasses. And in the device management system, you can check the 'health' of the glasses at all times. This way, you can see exactly how much battery power the headset still has, what the last security update was and even how many degrees the glasses are.

2. Managing XR content

  • Install games and applications from a central point. This way, you can see exactly which applications are on which headset and you get direct insight into the status of the application. This way, you will never be surprised when you put on the headset and the application suddenly needs to update.
  • Upload your own content via ArborXR. Of course, it is possible to add existing applications and games to the ArborXR software platform, but if you have developed your own application such as a training or other application, you can also easily add this to ArborXR and add it remotely to the VR glasses.
  • Install and update multiple applications and content at the same time, whenever you want. For example, do you want every VR glasses to have a standard introduction video on it? Then you can easily install this from the central point on all VR glasses that are connected. And you can completely determine when and at what time you want to do this.
  • ArborXR supports most file types. Easily install apps (Android APK's) with .obb support, videos (MP4, 360-video) or other file types (.txt., .jpeg, .json, etc.).

3. Increasing the user experience

  • Customise the VR headset to your own liking with a custom launcher. This way, you can fully arrange the start screen of the VR glasses to your own insight. Think of certain apps you want to display (or not), adding your own logo and even adding your own (360 degree) background.
  • Simplifying the start screen has the advantage that the user is less easily distracted and intimidated by the many possibilities of the VR glasses.
  • Kiosk mode makes it possible for users to directly click on the right application. And certain settings can be turned off, preventing users (intentionally or accidentally) from going into the settings and adjusting something.
  • Have you turned off something that the user needs to access after all? No problem. Because this can simply be adjusted via the ArborXR online platform. Or you can set it up so that a pin code needs to be entered first to go to the settings. This way, you are always free to make adjustments where necessary.
