Pros and cons
- Immersive mixed reality: The Varjo headset offers an immersive mixed reality experience with photorealistic visuals and "depth awareness" that seamlessly blends virtual and real elements.
- High-quality video passthrough: The passthrough system of Varjo is vastly superior to the standard optical passthrough systems used in other augmented reality devices, making virtual objects look real instead of appearing as holograms.
- Comfortable design: The Varjo headset is designed with a precisely fitting headband for maximum comfort for all head shapes and sizes, even during longer usage sessions. It also features active cooling, a refresh rate of 90 Hz, and ultra-wide, crystal-clear lenses to prevent eye strain or motion sickness.
- Limited applications: The high cost of the headset makes it primarily appealing for professional use in sectors such as industry, engineering, and education, limiting its applications for the average consumer.
- Requires powerful hardware: Using the headset requires powerful hardware, which can incur additional costs.
- Not wireless: The headset is not wireless, which can lead to limitations in freedom of movement and make its use less comfortable.
- Caution: ensure that the lenses of the headset are not exposed to direct sunlight to prevent sun damage.
