Compact AI computer for vision and robotics

The ZED Box Mini from Stereolabs is a compact embedded AI computer for local processing of camera images, depth information, and AI models. The system is based on the NVIDIA Jetson Orin platform and is designed for applications such as autonomous robots, AMR's, machine vision, object detection, spatial mapping, and other vision AI solutions where image data needs to be processed directly at the edge.

Depending on the chosen version, the ZED Box Mini comes with a NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano 4GB, Orin Nano 8GB, Orin NX 8GB or Orin NX 16GB. This allows the computing power to be tailored to the application, from relatively compact vision projects to heavier AI workloads with multiple camera streams and neural networks.

Direct connection for ZED cameras

The ZED Box Mini has two GMSL2 connections for industrial Stereolabs cameras, including the ZED X, ZED X Mini and ZED X Nano. In addition, there is a USB 3.0 connection for compatible USB ZED cameras. This allows up to two GMSL2 cameras and one USB 3 camera to be connected simultaneously.

GMSL2 is particularly suitable for robotics and industrial applications as image signals can be transmitted over a robust coaxial cable. Multiple ZED Box Mini systems can also be synchronised for applications where camera images from different units need to be accurately aligned.

Designed for integration into mobile systems

With dimensions of just 152.8 × 103.8 × 41.5 mm and a weight of about 600 grams, the ZED Box Mini can be easily integrated into robots, vehicles and other compact systems. The aluminium housing ensures a robust construction and passive heat dissipation.

For network and peripheral devices, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI, USB 3.0, GPIO, CAN and UART are available among others. The built-in 256 GB M.2 storage offers space for the operating system, applications and local data. Thanks to support for the ZED SDK and the NVIDIA Jetson ecosystem, the ZED Box Mini forms a complete basis for developing and deploying standalone AI vision solutions.
