What is SideQuest and how do you use it?
If you've just purchased a Quest 2, you might think that the official Oculus Store is the only way to acquire games. But did you know there's an entirely different platform where you can also download games? This platform is called SideQuest. In this article, we explain what SideQuest is and how you can install games on your Quest 2 using this platform.
Packed with useful features
SideQuest is a platform where you can download games for the Quest 1 and Quest 2. The difference with the official Oculus Store is that essentially anyone can upload their developed game to SideQuest, whereas the Oculus Store has strict requirements for the content available on it. This means that on SideQuest, you can find many games that you won't find in the Oculus Store. Think of experimental games, technical demos, and ports/mods of existing games. SideQuest is essentially made possible by the community that uploads their own games. Additionally, there are also games that originated on SideQuest but were taken over by the Oculus Store due to their success on this platform (such as Gorilla Tag and Pavlov VR).
Additionally, SideQuest is also packed with useful features and tools that allow users to adjust "hidden" settings. For example, it is possible to adjust the textuur-resolutie and refresh rate, give video-opnames a different dimension, activate cloudback-up, and much more.
