SlimeVR Information

SlimeVR is an open-source full-body tracking (FBT) solution for virtual reality. Without the need for base stations, SlimeVR offers a wireless, comfortable, and affordable way to experience full-body tracking.

How does it work?

SlimeVR FBT utilises high-quality IMU sensors (inertial measurement units) and a Wi-Fi connection with your PC. This means there are no wires, cameras, or base stations needed. With just five trackers—on each thigh, ankle, and chest—accurate tracking is possible. The software calculates joint angles and body positions based on your body specifications and the location of your VR headset. This makes SlimeVR comparable to Vive trackers, but wireless.

Comfort and convenience

SlimeVR is designed for ultimate wearing comfort. The trackers are lightweight, easy to wear, and fully autonomous. Because no cameras or base stations are needed, tracking is never interrupted by obstacles or loss of line of sight.

Compatibility

SlimeVR is compatible with many popular VR platforms, including:

  • • PC games and VR applications such as VRChat, NeosVR, and Blade & Sorcery
  • • VRChat standalone on the Meta Quest 2
  • • Streaming VR applications with avatars
  • • VTubing via OSC or Tracking World
  • • SteamVR games

Support for Meta Quest

Currently, VRChat and VRWorkout support full-body tracking on the Meta Quest without needing a PC. Thanks to recent updates in VRChat with OSCTrackers, SlimeVR can now be used fully standalone with VRChat.
