SlimeVR Full Body Tracker

VR-gaming is becoming increasingly popular, and more and more technologies are emerging to enhance VR-ervaring. Full Body Tracking is an example of this, allowing players to use their entire body to move within the virtual world. SlimeVR is a newcomer in this market, offering an affordable and easy solution for Full Body Tracking in SteamVR.

What is SlimeVR?

SlimeVR is a set of trackers and software that provides simple, effective tracking of the user's body in VR. By utilising hoge-kwaliteit IMU sensors connected to the PC via Wi-Fi, SlimeVR enables comfortable full-body tracking without the need for wires, external cameras, or base stations. Five trackers placed on the waist, legs, and ankles monitor movements in space. SlimeVR then uses your specified body proportions and headset-positie to calculate joint positions and tracks the location using this information.

The primary focus of SlimeVR is the comfort of the user. The sensors are lightweight and easy to wear, appear high-tech, and offer a wide range of motion. Slime VR doesn’t require cameras, other sensors, or base stations to function. The open source-ontwerp provides the VR community with the capabilities to expand the SlimeVR-ecosysteem, create new devices, add compatibility with new software, and improve all aspects of the project in the future.

How does SlimeVR work?

With the basic set of 5 trackers, the user can track their lower body (legs and waist). This enables you to see your legs and feet in popular VR games such as VRChat. Other games like NeosVR, LIV, and more can track knees and chest with the same trackers. Additional trackers can be used to expand tracking to complete full-body tracking (including elbows, chest, hands, head, etc.).

SlimeVR is compatible with all games that already support full body tracking. These include VRChat, NeosVR, Blade & Sorcery and most VR games with their own avatar. It works with all headsets that connect to a PC and offer positional tracking PC connection via Wi-Fi via card, dongle, integrated, or connection to router.

Focus on accessibility and comfort

The primary focus of SlimeVR is user comfort. The sensors are lightweight and easy to wear, providing an extensive range of motion. Slime VR does not require cameras, additional sensors, or base stations to operate.

The open source-ontwerp gives the VR community the ability to expand SlimeVR-ecosysteem, create new devices, add compatibility with new software, and improve all aspects of the project in the future.
