Augmented Reality & Remote Collaboration in the Workplace
Gemvisionis a software company based in Rotterdam. They specialise in offering a kant-en-klaar solution for augmented reality and remote assistance applications. With theGemvision Ready to Go-Kitthey have developed a alles-in-een case where both the hardware (such as the AR-bril, battery, and accessories) and the software are ready to use straight out of the box.
Alles-in-een solution
This is beneficial for companies that are not yet very familiar with (the possibilities of) augmented reality and remote assistance. Often, someone in the company has heard about remote assistance and thinks: "Hey, that sounds handy. We should have that too!". But when an augmented reality-bril is finally purchased, it often turns out to work less well than intended. As a result, the glasses end up in the cupboard and are no longer looked at.
With Gemvision's alles-in-een solution, the user has everything at hand to use the glasses immediately. With both a handy case that allows you to charge the glasses directly, and all the cables and necessary accessories to wear the glasses comfortably for extended periods.
The benefits of Gemvision
But where Gemvision really shows their specialisation is in the field of software. The Gemvision-platform is a comprehensive software platform aimed at improving communication using augmented reality. The possibilities with Gemvision include (among others):
- ✓ Give and receive work instructions remotely and connect with colleagues remotely to 'share your view' via smart glasses or mobile devices.
- ✓ Control the camera of smart glasses and mobile devices remotely during support video calls.
- ✓ Make live annotations, take photos, record video streams, share your screen, and more to get the right information to the right place.
- ✓ Perform routine maintenance checks and inspections with workflows to quickly access checklists, audit-formulieren, troubleshooting guides, and easily submit when completed.
- ✓ Capture and share expert knowledge with field workers.
- ✓ Provide standardised workflows for employee training.
- ✓ Provide on-demand access for field workers to procedures, manuals, checklists, workflows, etc.

Gemvision Use Cases

- Remote specialists for Hamer. Hamer uses Gemvision with Vuzix smart glasses to allow technicians to watch live on location. They do this with the help of video streamed to the Vuzix-brillen. This way, an external product specialist can watch live with a service technician without being physically present.
- Remote Wound Care 2.0. In this project, Gemvision collaborates with the hospital and Careaz Homecare to enable district nurses to work "hands-free". The aim of this project is to provide district nurses with professional support at home for the wound care of patients.
- Air-condition remote service and assistance. Daikin uses their own Gemvision platform, where the technician can show the helpdesk employee what he sees with the help of the Vuzix-bril. The helpdesk employee can then draw on the screen, point something out, or even share their own screen. Meanwhile, the technician can hands-free continue his work.
