Managing Virtual Reality glasses just got easier with ArborXR

The unstoppable rise of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) in the business world is a fascinating development. However, many managers find over time a problem: enthusiasm for these kinds of systems and devices wanes because they do not meet expectations. Adjustments cost a lot of time and money. The hoped-for efficiency evaporates and frustration grows in its place. ArborXR and Unbound XR have the solution

VR/AR systems

When using VR/AR systems (collectively referred to as XR - Extended Reality), organisations invest in this beautiful technology only to find that implementation and use are not so simple. Ideally, employees would put on a VR headset and work flawlessly with it. The reality is different: often, users have to wait for an update or endlessly scroll through the app library to find the application they need for their work. Literally: that does not work

ArborXR serves more than 800 companies; the company's expertise speaks for itself. We are proud to offer together a leading solution for companies wanting to scale VR & AR implementations

ArborXR's Unique Method

ArborXR has developed a unique method for connecting multiple devices from a single location. This helps organisations to simplify the implementation and use of VR and AR glasses. As an official partner of ArborXR, Unbound XR is the ideal party to allow companies to work smoothly and efficiently with the technology of the future

How ArborXR Works

ArborXR is a mobile device management system (MDM). It connects XR devices (for example, VR, AR, and MR glasses) via an online platform from a specific computer. Updates are then implemented from this platform to all connected devices

But of course, ArborXR has more benefits. The system also offers a customisable kiosk-mode launcher. This launcher is the start screen when a user puts on the glasses. For example, the Oculus Home start screen is the starting point for settings, apps, developer mode, and the on/off button. But users who have no experience with XR technology want to get started quickly with the right apps. ArborXR's kiosk launcher helps employees to find the right apps in the start screen according to their own insight. This prevents them from clicking on the wrong apps and having to wait a long time for the glasses to start up

Customise to Your Liking

Moreover, the design of the start screen can be easily customised to your liking. If you want to add a homemade 360-degree photo to the start screen to create a professional virtual environment, you can get started in a few minutes

The Benefits of ArborXR

Above, we have already given some examples of what the ArborXR device management platform can do exactly. But there are so many more handy features hidden in the programme! Broadly speaking, ArborXR is characterised by three pillars:

1. Managing XR Devices

  • Manually managing all devices within an organisation is almost impossible. With ArborXR, you can set up all different AR and VR devices online, configure the settings from a distance, keep the software up-to-date and see exactly how many devices are in circulation.
  • ArborXR's software is designed for convenience and simplicity. So there is no difficult installation involved where you spend hours per headset to link it to the system. It's just a matter of connecting the VR glasses you want to add to ArborXR with a cable to the PC or laptop, and you're done!
  • ArborXR works with all common VR, AR and MR headsets. This includes glasses from Oculus/Meta, Pico, HTC VIVE, Vuzix, RealWear, DPVR and more. Check out the full list of XR glasses that are compatible with ArborXR here.
  • Remotely manage settings such as WiFi configurations and permissions, and install content directly onto the glasses you want to have it installed on. This can be done on individual VR glasses or directly on groups of VR glasses simultaneously.
  • Install and always check the latest software of the VR glasses. And in the device management system, the 'health' of the glasses can be checked at all times. So you can see exactly how much battery power the headset has left, what the last security update was and even how many degrees the glasses are.

2. Managing XR Content

  • Install games and applications from a central point. This way, you can see exactly which applications are on which headset and you get immediate insight into the status of the application. This way, you will never be surprised when you put on the headset and the application suddenly needs to update.
  • Upload your own content via ArborXR. Of course, it is possible to add already existing applications and games to ArborXR's software platform, but if you have developed your own application such as a training or other application, you can also easily add this to ArborXR and add it remotely to the VR glasses.
  • Install and update multiple applications and content simultaneously, whenever you want. For example, do you want every VR glasses to have a standard introduction video on it? Then you can install this very easily from the central point on all VR glasses that are connected. And you can completely determine when and at what time you want to do this.
  • ArborXR supports most file types. Easily install apps (Android APK's) with .obb support, videos (MP4, 360-video) or other file types (.txt., .jpeg, .json, etc.).

3. Enhancing User Experience

  • Customise the VR headset entirely to your liking with a custom launcher. This way, you can fully design the start screen of the VR glasses according to your own insight. Think of certain apps you want to display (or not), adding your own logo and even adding your own (360-degree) background.
  • Simplifying the start screen has the advantage that the user is less easily distracted and deterred by the many possibilities of the VR glasses.
  • Kiosk mode makes it possible for users to click directly on the correct application. And certain settings can be turned off, preventing users (deliberately or accidentally) from adjusting something in the settings.
  • Have you turned off something that the user should have access to after all? No problem. Because this can be easily adjusted via the ArborXR online platform. Or you can set it up so that a pin code must be entered first to go to the settings. This way, you are always free to make adjustments where necessary.
